Physical Activity and Fitness

Physical activity and fitness is important among children in terms of physical and mental health. The CDC suggests at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day for children ages 6-17. Many activities include walking, jogging, or aerobic exercises that keep the heart pumping. Other activities can require vigorous-intensity such as sports, weightlifting, etc. This is essential for children as it promotes healthy growth and development. Regular exercise strengthens their muscles and bones, supports a healthy weight, and improves cardiovascular health. Beyond the physical benefits, staying active enhances cognitive function, boosts mood, and helps children develop social skills through teamwork and play. Engaging in physical activities also fosters good habits early on, reducing the risk of chronic diseases later in life and encouraging a lifelong love for movement and wellness.
